02nd International Conference on Geopolitics and Area Studies (GEINK): «World-System at Stake: Power, Shifts and Clashes on the International Stage»
The International Conference on Geopolitics and Area Studies is a forum for academic and social exchange focused on research and analysis in International Politics, Geopolitics and Area Studies. Following the first and fruitful edition held in 2024, this second edition will examine the transformations shaping contemporary disputes over global hegemony, with particular attention to the multidimensional tensions between the Global North and the Global South, especially regarding the growing role of emerging powers. In this context, both hybrid and conventional wars are expanding, while other regional conflicts remain marginalised in the media agenda. These dynamics intersect with far-reaching social changes, such as the rise in forced displacement, the climate emergency and the advance of the far right. Under the title “World-System at Stake: Power, Shifts and Clashes on the International Stage” these challenges will be addressed through seven working groups, alongside keynote lectures, roundtables and additional parallel activities to be held in Bilbao on 10, 11 and 12 June 2026.
Dates of holding: June 10th, 11th and 12th, 2026.
